9 children taken to hospital out of precaution after eating medication they found on way to school: reports

Nine children were taken to the hospital after eating medication they found while walking to school in Chicago on Wednesday.
At 9 a.m. local time, firefighters responded to a call regarding the children, who are students at Richard J. Daley Elementary Academy, after they ate "common over-the-counter medicine," according to the Chicago Fire Department, as reported by local news outlets WGN 9 and ABC 7 Chicago. They found the package while walking to school.
The fire department tested the medication and said there was nothing unusual about the medicine, according to ABC 7 Chicago. But the children were taken to the hospital out of caution.
USA TODAY's attempts to reach the Chicago Fire Department and the Department of Children and Families (DCF) were not returned. The elementary school declined response.
